Vesak Programme 2014
The Dhamma Programme organised by the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre to commemorate the Vesak Poya day was held on the 10th of May 2014. Devotees from all over the United Kingdom attended the event held in Pitsea, Essex.
The programme commenced at 7am wVesak Programme 2014ith the scared Relics of Lord Buddha and a Sapling of the Noble Bodhi tree was brought to the venue and placed in a magnificently decorated altar. Under the guidance of the Resident Bhikkhus, the devotees observed the Nobel Eight Precepts and offered Kiripindu to Lord Buddha. Following the Pooja Dhamma sermons, meditation sessions and Dhamma discussions were conducted all through the day. A separate Dhamma Programme was held for children who also observed the Noble Eight Precepts. In the evening, veneration of the Noble Bodhi Tree was carried out. Devotees offered various items to Lord Buddha and accumulated immense merits. Colourful Vesak Lanterns were constructed and displayed at the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre premises that depict Lord Buddha’s Life story as well.
